La compagnia dell’oratorio
Oratori del tardo Seicento Emiliano
Rappresentazioni in forma semiscenica
“La compagnia dell’Oratorio” The Italian Baroque Oratorio is a dramatic genre: the plots are the most various, from political affairs to private dramas, characters involve Angels and Devils, weeping kings and perfid wives, rebel sons and loving fathers as in an opera of the same period. Composers of the highest importance have composed oratorios: Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Colonna, Bassani, depicting characters and situations in the most vivid way. “La compagnia dell’Oratorio”, “The company of Oratorio” is the name of a project hold by Ensemble Les Nations and Associazione Collegium Musicum Classense, whose aim is to perform, study, publish, and record oratorios composed in northern Italy in the Baroque Era, bringing them back on the musical sceneWith a limited number of performers (4/6 strings, 5 voices and continuo and in some Oratorios the trumpet, very popoular in Northern Italy: 10 to 13 musicians at most) Oratorios offer to the public the artistic emotions of an Opera. Ensemble Les Nations has in his repertoire five Oratorios that can be performed by the same singers, offering to Festivals the possibility to schedule in their programs more than one Oratorio, or a vocal concert with the same performers along with the oratorio performance.
